Reasons Why You Should Avoid Backlink Networks

Blogging is one good way to generate money online. However, when backlink networks come in, everything seemed to turn upside down and the best method bloggers can do to quickly earn money online was soon vanished along with their websites. This post is about what exactly backlink networks to avoid, reasons to avoid them, and how to get rid of bad links once you got them. So, you definitely need to read the post if you don’t want to land in hot water down the road. There are examples when sites were totally de-indexed because of bad links. And you definitely don’t want that, right?

Two types of backlink networks

Backlinks are not literally bad; however, there are two types of backlink networks you must avoid.

  • Backlink network ran by a facilitator who provides all the blog. This can hold hundreds to thousands of blogs which is ran only by one facilitator—and that is the owner. With this method, owners sell those blogs for you to place your links on it.
  • Backlink network where the owner is also the facilitator. Contributors of this network provide blogs which allows them to place their links on the blogs which are also contributed by other members.

These two backlink networks should be gravely avoided if you don’t want your business to be put to waste. When Google Panda identified backlink networks, they began de-indexing sites which have participated in this sort of networks.

Why should you avoid it?

It took quite some time for Google to finally figure out how backlink networks manipulate websites and search engines. In fact, Google itself participated in the first type of backlink to find out which of those websites have violated their policies. A hidden agenda was left unnoticed until participating websites was fully shut down and de-indexed.

With Google’s plan, they finally recognized footprints of those blog sites that provide paid links, and now, these violators are paying high charges for their unlawful act. While not all participating blog sites have been shut down, others have dramatically decreased their rankings and were left inconspicuous. And although backlinkers may be using broadband to hide their location, they are not excused to the punishment sentenced by Google. Broadband expert compares internet providers as clichéd when it comes to tracking down frauds but Google don’t buy it.

How to remove damaging and unwanted backlinks?

To get back on track, you need to find unwanted backlinks in the first place. There are a lot of great tools you could use such as SEOMoz Open Site Explorer and Webmaster Tools Links to name a few. Once you have seen all of the damaging backlinks, you need to have them removed. You can do this by following these simple routines:

  • Ask for link removal. Track down the editor and ask him to remove the link. If you can’t find the owner of the site, you can use the Whols tool. It helps you point out the direct owner in no time.
  • Ask for NoFollow. Inform your hired company, editor, and writer to set the link as a nofollow. With this, Google will not count your link when it’s time to analyze your blog site on a SERP.

Now, once you have fully removed damaging and unwanted links, contact Google for a reconsideration request. Provide them with a detailed spreadsheet and screenshots that lays out the removed links and wait for Google’s confirmation about your request.
