SEO for Bloggers – Audiobook Review

SEO for Bloggers – Audiobook Review

As a busy search engine expert, you don’t really have that much time on your hands to sit down and actually read a nice book about SEO for bloggers or what not, but there’s still hope. Thing is, you can just start listening to audiobooks. Odds are, you may be surprised by the amount of totally awesome books which are currently available in audio format. What’s more, there’s a whole lot of search engine optimization related audiobooks out there. This post reviews one of them that I hand-picked for your consideration. The book you’ll learn about is called SEO for Bloggers.

Content

The audiobook is over 3 hours in length and it has tons of useful info for primarily newbie SEOs that promote blogs. That said, the tips and guidelines can be used both for WordPress sites and virtually any other content management system out there. Heck, it will work even if you don’t use a CMS at all. With that in mind, it’s still most useful for folks out there that run SEO campaigns for blogs. It goes without saying that you should firstly make sure that you know how to start a blog.

The author of the audiobook is R. L. Adams and he states in the very beginning of the book that some info in the audiobook can be not up to date just because Google tweaks its algorithm on a regular (and daily) basis. Other than that, you’ll get to know that SEO is not something that you can do overnight. By the way, most site owners (at least, the ones I dealt with) don’t really understand that part. They are like,”I want to have SEO done to my site and then I’ll move on”. Well, that’s not exactly how the cookie crumbles here. SEO takes a LOT of time and effort. and you’re supposed to be doing it as long as you run your site. And there’s no workaround.

SEO Basics

You’ll get to know why Google keeps on releasing updates to their algorithm. Also, you’ll learn about the biggest updates that Google has rolled out since 2011. Other than that, you’ll hear (well, it’s an audiobook) about the difference between Black Hat SEO and White Hat SEO. What’s interesting you’ll even be presented with a few workable SEO methods. As a bonus, he explains Google’s quality guidelines that you can also find here in written format.

Keyword Research

The SEO for Bloggers audiobook will also show you how to properly do keyword research so that you can both easily start ranking your site and attract target audience (people that are potentially interested in what you offer on your site). You may want to use this keyword planner for your keyword research.

Side note: though audiobooks are awesome media to consume info on the go, they have one thing that can really bug you. You may be pissed off when the narrator gives you a site URL in audio format. he just pronounces that. Firstly, you hardly ever intend to put it down and, secondly, it just sounds annoying. There must be a better way!

Domain Names

You’ll get to know how to choose a brand new domain and, which is super crucial, how to obtain an aged one that is relevant to your niche because an aged domain will bolster your rankings from the very gitgo. That’s a biggie if you want to rank your site asap. It’s by a long shot harder to do it with a brand new domain name. You just need to make sure that the domain is content congruent (somehow related to your niche) to your future site and buy it.

On-Page SEO

The author explains the difference between on-page and off-page SEO. You may be especially happy to get to know about latent semantic indexing (LSI) that is currently used by Google. That feature allows you to use keywords that show relevance of your content without keyword stuffing (overusing your keyword in a page copy). Talking about on-page SEO, the author promotes a few relevant and high-quality WordPress plugins. For instance, he offers the SEOpressor WordPress plugin as an affiliate though the plugin is actually worth it.

Link Building (Off-Page SEO)

The author gives you a deluge of ideas about proper link building both in terms of sites that you can use for that and exact methods that you should stick to for best results. For example, you’re not supposed to get too many links right after you launch your site, especially if all the links that point to your site have the same anchor text and highlight your homepage only. The audiobook also gives you an idea of where exactly you need to move to improve your SEO and make it future-proof. Long story short, you need to provide value, but you really need to actually listen to audiobook to see all the value you get in terms of learning about workable SEO.

Chances are, you’re gonna love the info on why you need to ping your brand new links on some sites and how exactly you can do that. This tip actually makes perfect sense and is really workable. I checked it for myself 🙂

Real Life Case Studies

The SEO for Bloggers audiobook is full of case studies that allow you to better understand how Google works and what SEO metrics (domain age, linking domains, etc) it factors in while deciding which site should rank higher.

Social Media

Since social media shares come neck in neck with high-quality content creation and search engine optimization, the book tackles the aspect as well. Apart from just explaining why you need to promote your content in social media, you’ll also be offered a few platforms that allow dominating your niche when it comes to Facebook, Twitter, etc.

SEO Glossary

You’ll be glad to listen to the search engine optimization glossary in the end of the audiobook because it allows you to make sure that you know the most crucial terms. It’s most useful for the rookies out there. You sort of brush up what you’ve just learned when you listen to that glossary after doing all the SEO for bloggers content.

Odds are, now you feel hooked up and just dying to learn how to get started. Here’s the deal.

How to Listen to the SEO for Bloggers Audiobook

The SEO for Bloggers audiobook is available at Audible.com and you’ll need to install an Audible app in order to be able to enjoy the book. No panic! Both Android and iPhone apps are available out there. Once you have one of them installed, you just need to create your account (if you don’t have one) and you’re ready to rock.

In Conclusion

As you could see for yourself, the audiobook is primarily useful for those of us who are new to SEO. With that in mind, you may still want to listen to it even if you’re an experienced expert just to make sure that you don’t miss anything when you take a brand new website off the ground.

If you’ve already listened to SEO for Bloggers I’d love to know what you think about it in the comments. What did you and didn’t like in the audiobook?
