Free SEO That You Can Start Doing Now

Free SEO

Not ready to invest money in your site’s SEO, but you desparately need it done? As a matter of fact, there’s a way out. You just need to make sure that you have some time to invest in that. If you do have time, read on the article and you’ll learn what you can do to bump up your site rankings with no money spent. I’ll touch on methods like blog commenting, forum posting, and guest posting. Most likely you’re heard or even done some of them, but I’m sure that you’ll find my tips useful ‘coz they are based exclusively on experience with real life projects. And again, it’s free SEO that you can do without spending a dime.

Blog Commenting

It’s a real no-brainer because you just need to find your niche blogs and leave valuable comments there. I personally do it as follows. Say, I need to write a post about a topic. I do some Google research on that topic, which usually gives me about ten blogs from my niche that talk about the topic that I’m currently working on. So, I just read those posts and leave my feedback after each post in the comments section. This approach allows you to both leave a comment with a backlink (new link from another domain) and learn more about the topic you’re writing your post on.

Again, don’t leave a comment on a site if you don’t have anything valuable to say. Just put yourself in the site admin’s shoes. Would you want a comment that adds on no value, but it’s there just for a backlink?

Forum Posting

Another way to build links for free is forum posting. For starters, you need to find the forums where your potential clients can be. That done, you need to register on those forums and start participating in discussions. Keep in mind that you are not supposed to push your servics or products. Also, when you create an account on a forum, make sure to fill it up completely. Your account should be as complete as possible, because it will show that you’re there to stay for a long time and you’re not just another spammer.

On some forums, you’ll need to post a specific amount of posts (up to 30) before you can use a signature with a backlink to your site. The idea is that if you left that amount of posts, you must be a real person. Plus you need to be a forum member for a while as well. So, get ready to invest some time in this linkbuilding method.

Though you have to spend some time on forums, the benefits you can get are quite considerable, because you get the option to leave a link in your signature and – if your forum posts are really in-depth – you can also build a very postive reputation that allows you to become an authority in your niche. And that can mean more customers because some prospects search for services right on niche forums.

Guest Posting

And the last method that allows you to obtain links for free. The trick with guest blogging is that you need to guest post on the blogs that have better SEO metrics than your site (Page Rank, Domain Authority, Alexa Rank, etc). Plus make sure that you write your posts for the blogs that are actually active and created for humans rather than just for search bots.

Be sure to check if the blog has comments after posts, how often the blog gets updated, how useful and in-depth posts are on the blog. If you’re just starting out, you can register at MyBlogGuest.com and offer your guest posts for other members. In case you need links from more authoritative sites than you can find on MyBlogGuest.com, you’ll have to find them manually. You can use BuySellAds.com for that purpose. Though you can use the method for finding people who can buy links on your site, it’s also applicable for guest posting search.

Though you may really like the idea of doing SEO for free, don’t get carried away and build links like crazy. The point is that if you aquire links too fast, you may get under Google’s radar for being suspiciously active. That holds true for brand new sites for the most part. As a rule of thumb, it’s OK to multiply the amount of links you build every month by two. So, if you built 100 links last month. You can build 200 this month and 400 next month.

The Bottom Line

You totally can do some SEO for free, but you need to be ready to spend time on that because it still comes at a cost. You just pay with your time. Blog commenting, forum posting and guest posting are the methods that you can use if you have the knowledge and desire to share it.

Do you personally know any other methods that you can add to the list and make the post even more epic? 🙂
